I was born and raised in a small village in the metropolitan area of Curitiba. With my family, I learned the value of being close to nature, walking barefoot, and building good relationships based on respect and affection.
In my teenage years, I entered technical school to study electronics, where I learned to manage my own academic life, choosing subjects and activities to participate in. During this period, I was part of Brazil’s first team to produce biofuel from used cooking oil. I also became self-employed, providing computer maintenance at a time when we advertised in print newspapers and received calls on a pager (a small device that vibrated), then returned calls to clients using a payphone.
While doing maintenance work in families’ homes and small businesses, I discovered my real passion: understanding the complexity of human behaviour and relationships. I worked at different companies doing computer and electronics maintenance before shifting from electronics to psychology in 2001.
When I started my psychology degree, I found my place in the world. Of all the subjects, Behaviour Analysis captivated me due to its scientific foundation and vast applications for enhancing life in communities. Throughout my studies, I engaged in research and intervention projects, working across multiple areas of psychology: education, organisational, health, clinical, and environmental.
My career progressed in corporate training and consulting, while I continued my academic path with specialisation, a master’s, and a doctorate. In post-graduate studies, I had the privilege of working with Professors Sílvio Botomé and Olga Kubo, who deeply shaped my understanding of Behaviour Analysis, especially Educational Programming, which is now central to my professional practice.
I became a university professor, teaching, supervising, and mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as professionals in various fields. I taught for five years at Universidade Positivo, where the psychology program was ranked the second-best in the country by the Ministry of Education, and another eight years as a lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC).
Over time, I specialised in educational technology, developing online learning systems based on Behavioural Sciences to promote performance, retention, and student satisfaction in courses that genuinely benefit their professional journeys. My passion is helping people to teach and to learn.
In 2023, I made a new career transition: I stepped down from my position in UFSC’s Department of Psychology to become Head of Educational Technologies at PBS Together, a project focused on training professionals in Positive Behaviour Support in Australia. I am currently on this journey in Australia, where the government has granted me permanent residency as a Global Talent in educational technology.
I continue to work on several projects in Brazil, supervising postgraduate students at UFSC, lecturing in online postgraduate courses, and providing supervision to professionals in Behaviour Analysis.
